- The overall responsibility of the CDN Operations associate is to remotely manage a content delivery network platform.
- In support of this platform, the associates are responsible for troubleshooting and analysis, fault resolution, configuration management, change management and performance management.
- The job requires strong technical skills that cross multiple functions including networking, applications, servers and operating systems and tools.
- This highly visible position demands strong technical professionals that will interface directly with external clients, 3rd party vendors, and internal/external technical teams.
- Duties range from but are not limited to managing and troubleshooting servers, storage devices and applications, verifying utility outputs, and installing patches and software upgrades.
- A good candidate will come from a network and/or systems administration background with a large ISP or a service provider.
- The candidate should have experience with routing/switching in a LAN/WAN environment as well as layer 4/load balancing experience with equipment from various vendors.
- The candidate should have In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP stack and the ability to examine and analyze packet captures and traffic flows.
- The associate should also have Linux/Unix/Windows platform expertise along with associated CDN applications such as Apache, Squid, IIS, Tomcat, Weblogic, Flash, Windows Media server products. Industry experience with content delivery networks is preferred.
- Required – SQUID Application and Content Distribution Network Experience
Fault Mgmt Resolution & Change Execution responsibilities include:
- Restoring service as a result of outage conditions
- Participating in technical calls during outages and assisting with customer and mgmt communications
- Performing Change Control / MACD work
- Adhering to fault mgmt ticketing documentation
- Fault resolution and ticket closure
- Assisting / Mentoring as needed
Technical Support for critical situations – responsibilities can include:
- Performing project / engineering reviews
- Technically managing major / complex outages
- Instituting instrumental improvements from technical perspective
- Performing chronic analysis and corrective planning
Required/Desired Skills and Certifications:
This position requires a broad spectrum skill set which should include most of the following categories:
- -Content Delivery Networks and related Internet technologies: Expert knowledge in the areas of DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP, Web Acceleration – SQUID, Media Streaming protocols/vendors (Flash, Windows Media and other streaming products)
- Applications: Squid, Weblogic, Tomcat, Apache, IIS, Flash, Windows Media
- -Server Platforms: Sun Solaris, Linux, Windows.
- -Scripting skills with shell and perl.
- The job is in a production operations environment and requires 24 x 7 service coverage and candidates maybe required to work shift schedules.
- A minimum of 5 to 8 years experience is required. A four-year degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study or equivalent experience desired.
- Candidates should have Content Delivery Network experience along with Linux-Squid application-Flash Application-Networking-Internet Engineering-Systems Programming are the top skills.
- As well as, experience or technical talent to be a good fit in the environment.
- The job does not require face-to-face contact with the Customer on the Customer Premise.
