Supports and coordinates local and state media relations efforts , including pitching stories and securing positive coverage
Writing and editing news releases and speeches; and responding to and developing answers to media inquiries.
Promotes the brand, network, reputation and innovation efforts with both consumer and business media.
Assists local leadership with media relations for marketing and sponsorship activities and provides strategic counsel on managing brand and reputation.
Develops and maintains strong relationships with all types of local and state media outlets, including print, broadcast, online and social media.
A qualified candidate will have strong written and oral communications skills
Will be a motivated self starter comfortable with a highly accountable but autonomous environment
Will possess strong relationships with local media in his or her respective market.

Additionally, candidates should have:

At least five years of corporate communications experience, with an emphasis on media relations, media training, and product public relations.
Established relationships with local media and proven experience in placing business and consumer stories of all types to various media outlets.
Experience in telecommunications, wireless, cable/satellite TV, broadband (or other consumer-facing technology) preferred.
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, English, political science or related field.
Experience serving as company spokesperson (handling media interviews on behalf of company executives).
Strong knowledge of and interest in social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, and how they contribute to an integrated earned media strategy.
Excellent writing ability with extensive experience in all forms of corporate and executive communication, from business media news releases to executive talking points.
A combination of agency and corporate experience is ideal, though not essential.
Demonstrated experience executing public relations plans.
Detail-oriented and the ability to meet deadlines without sacrificing quality.
